The honest way to picture the reserve is as an order of magnitude — hours rather than minutes, and never days — not a figure you can schedule around. Nobody can hand you a precise number, because it moves with the load, the set point and the weather on the day.

What shortens the hold time

Thermal inertia is only useful if someone acts inside the window, and that is what monitoring is for.
